#7 - Paws, Claws and Who's the Boss?

Observing animals interaction is fascinating.  Most of the time they're quite capable of working things out for themselves, without intervention from us!

#7 - Paws, Claws and Who's the Boss?

At some point in our lives many, if not most of us,  share our lives with a cat or a dog.  Unless of course, someone in the family is allergic to fur.  This isn't easily tolerated if you have a cat or dog who considers the word 'Bed' can equally well mean yours!

Feline force

Puppies and kittens can be good mates
They can enjoy lots of friendly spates
But sometimes when they get older
One or other becomes a little bolder
There can be a tussle to see who's boss
Cats very often win the toss.

It's interesting that  to fight like 'cats and dogs'  is a common phrase in the English language.   Ever since childhood these alleged 'enemies' have been part of my life.  Watching how they interact gives me  a good deal of  amusement.  At the risk of being overly anthropomorphic, their squabbles often have a certain familiar resonance!

Whether the canine or the feline triumphs or whether they reach a mutual agreement of non-violence, seems to depends on early introductions.  A bit like us, really. First impressions and all that.  These of course are not always right, as we sometimes learn later to our embarrassment!

In the animal kingdom it can be a bit more straightforward. On the whole, I reckon if kittens can stand their ground and not panic, puppies soon go about their business.  Leaving kittens to theirs.  So as they both grow up, it will be a peaceful household.

After all, how many dogs want to spend their evenings, lying in the grass in wait for some passing mouse?

Have a great weekend and see you on Monday, where we'll be looking at ways to maintain our balance in a very challenging world.
