Imagine the world without a single animal of any kind - only us two-legged human beings.  Nothing on four legs,  two legs, in the sea or in the sky.  Right down to the humble earthworm. Zilch - just us.

Actually, don't imagine it because it's too awful!  Just let's remember what they give us in myriad ways.  Not simply the food that many of us eat every single day of our lives.  More than that.  They offer their companionship and unstinting love.   

For all the gifts they give us, we can return our heartfelt gratitude, respect and, equally unstinting,  love.
