#30 - Do We Need To Go To Another Planet?
Honestly, sometimes I think I shouldn't ask so many questions! I have a whole section of Mimits titled Just A Query?
Our amazingly beautiful world is full of exciting discoveries, particularly as anyone who's ever watched a Nature programme on the BBC will be very aware. I'm feeling ever more protective of our planet, especially in the light of the climate changes and the apparently casual attitude still reflected by so many global leaders.
Mother Earth needs looking after right now. So do literally millions of people who live here. So I've got a bit snarky lately about space exploration.
So I decided I'd ask ChatGTP: What of value to our life on earth has been gained from space exploration? Here's the list of headings:
1. Technological Advancements
2. Earth Observation & Environmental Monitoring
3. Scientific Knowledge & Inspiration
4. Economic Impact
5. International Collaboration & Diplomacy
6. Philosophical and Cultural Impact.
The devil as they say, is in the detail. I slightly rephrased the question and got basically the same headings, but the second included a seventh: Long-term Survival and Perspective.
My feeling is that, as in Monday's Mewsings, and AI's own advice, I'd need to do a lot more 'critical thinking' about the information that followed each heading. Plus reflect on what it really means to all of us in daily life.
However, this is too big a task for a short newsletter! So I shall plod on quietly to ponder upon AI, aided by a book called Brave New Word, by Salman Khan. Recommended by Bill Gates in his Notes!
If we have individuals of integrity, honourable men and women, leading the technology companies, all will be well.
So as before, I shall stick to my heartfelt hope and prayer! But maybe just be a tad more vigilant!
