#29 - What's The Best Way To Deal With Those Daily Distractions?
We all get seduced by daily distractions demanding instant actions. Discover the gentle wisdom about sorting what's necessary from what can wait, plus practical tips for better focus and thoughtful revision of our busy habits.

Maybe this Mimit is not a problem for all well organised people, but it's certainly a problem for me! In my study there are two notice boards. One is within sight and has essential information like calendar and birthdays and so on. The other is slightly hidden behind the door, much smaller and requires a sort out. Today it's getting it!
In my efforts to reform I spot, tucked away, Words of Wisdom displayed on a sheet of A4, goodness knows how long ago! Purpose was, and still is alas, to help me change the habits, or character tendencies as I now prefer to call them, of a lifetime! After all some habits are good, just as some character tendencies are. It's not all negative!
Goodness knows where I culled these gems from, though I suspect I've added or adapted them in some way or other. The caps are my particular less-than-ideal character tendencies! Here goes:
- Decide what's going to be the task for the day. Is it necessary? Will it improve your life in some way?
Hmm! Well sometimes the answer to the last point is possibly not!
- Once you've decided or have clear guidance, STICK TO WHAT YOU ARE DOING!
Pouf to that! What about the constant interruptions? Mind you, half the time they're self-created by my busy butterfly mind. However, will make serious effort to give myself a time to 'stick to it' whatever it is. Actually, once I'm really focused, there's no stopping me!
- Think before you take any action. Consider what's the simplest way to do whatever it is you've decided is your task. DO NOT PLUNGE IN THOUGHTLESSLY!
Ha! I know perfectly well that time spent in reconnaissance is NOT just seldom wasted but NEVER wasted! If I'd thought about what I was going to do before I did it, the results would not only be better, but so would my energy levels!
Voilà! I will now direct you, if I may to a piece on Anna's Inquiring Alphabet, titled BUTTERFLIES AND BLOGS. I actually wrote it seven years ago. As the French say, 'Plus ça change, plus c'est la meme chose!
Please let me know, dear friends, if any of the challenges above are ever part of your daily life! In fact, I'm thinking in future I may simply write only a short piece about the Mimit, in the newsletter, and direct you, should you wish to read it, to a longer piece in my ever-inquiring Alphabet!
