#25 - Why Do We Often Forget The Best Choice To Make?

Life doesn't follow set patterns, but we always have a choice about our reactions. This MIMIT reminds us to pause, breathe, and choose clarity over chaos when the unexpected happens. A gentle nudge towards mindful responses in those flustered moments we all know too well.

#25 - Why Do We Often Forget The Best Choice To Make?

Of all the things I've had to learn in my life and believe me, I've had to learn a lot, there's one simple truth. We always have a choice.  So if  I ever catch myself saying, 'Ah, rats, well, no really, I don't want to, but oh gosh, I don't have a choice,' or something along those lines, I know I'm in trouble!

It's not difficult to test this out for oneself.  For example, you're rushing like mad for an important appointment, feeling a tad flustered and nervous.  You encounter a totally unexpected traffic jam because of an accident up ahead.  You reach for your phone to send word you may be  late.

Moment of panic! Frantic search!  In your haste you forgot, of all things, to put your phone in the car.

This is the time when it's just so incredibly helpful to remind yourself of that important piece of knowledge, 'I always have a choice! You can then rest calmly and gather your wits together.  Or at least what seems to be left of them!  Or you can go into a lengthy series of self-reprimands, on a scale that no half-kindly human being would hurl at another!

It's obvious which is the better choice.  Sometimes in situations like this, if I've actually remembered what I need to do - and this is half the battle - the traffic  amazingly seems to clear and you've moving again.

When you arrive at your destination, before you can even begin to launch into your apologies, the receptionist tells you they're running a little behindhand, so sorry you might have to wait!

Dear friends, I'm not making this up.  I humbly offer this handy reminder of what you, doubtless already know. In  every moment of our life, we always  have a choice.

We just keep forgetting it!  I know I do!
