#17 - If Patience Is A Virtue Your Cat Must Be A Paragon!
This week we explore the remarkable patience cats display when focused on their objectives, whether stalking prey or waiting for the perfect moment to pounce.

Cats are amazing! But of course all those of us who are fans have no problem with this statement. I'm resolutely staying away from the cats vs dogs debates. Both species are wonderful in different ways. Both of them have qualities I deeply respect.
But cats have this incredible patience once they've set their focus on something. I'm a great admirer of this quality. Being of a disposition that generally wants to get things done as quickly as possible - so as to get on to the next task - cats can definitely teach me a lesson. My general desire to be speedy all too often results in the total reverse. I could give many examples of this particular character tendency, but I've no wish to bore you!
Though sometimes this admirable patience is a little disconcerting. One day, observing Ziggy, my black cat, staring through the window for a very long time at a gecko peacefully climbing up the stonework, when the cat flap was opened later on, immediately went out and slaughtered it! Ah well. As the French are so fond of saying, when faced with a situation that's either inevitable, or has no happy solution, 'c'est comme ça.'
Out of curiousity, I did a bit of searching to see why patience is so strongly considered a virtue and found psychologytoday.com offered this definition.
Patience is a virtue because it cultivates inner strength and sound judgment. In a world that often feels rushed and demanding, the ability to wait calmly and tolerate delays really empowers us to make clear-headed decisions. Patience helps us avoid acting out of frustration or anger, thus preventing us from making hasty choices that could have negative consequences.
I think that just about sums it up! I must keep on practising. No problem there. The world at the moment gives us all ample opportunity, n'est ce pas?
