#14 - It Just Can't Wait!
Something no dog owner can ever put off! Exercising your dog has to be done no matter what the weather.

Some days, and especially at the end of a long gruelling week, you simply want to fall in a heap. Possibly even with a glass or two. Ah, but there's the dog. Eyes fixed on you like bayonets. The cry of that long ago dog trainer might echo in your ears. 'Walkies?'
Essential exercise
In the middle of town
With rain pouring down
It seems a real slog
To walk the dog
Suddenly you wonder
Whether having a cat
Wouldn't be such a blunder?
Ah, yes, 'Walkies.' The last thing you want to do with water flowing from the sky in every direction, your welly boots nowhere to be seen and the dog, ever watchful, approaching with a lead in his mouth.
That discussion about cats versus dogs pops into your mind. 'Ha,' you said, 'cats sleep all the time. Boring. Dogs are active, lively. Always on the go. They're the ones to have.'
The above scenario, I must confess is a slightly exaggerated view of the Mews household - except perhaps relaxing with a glass! We actually have cats and dogs in almost equal measure. All treated royally. But it has to be said, there are moments when dog-walking might be regarded a tad more as a duty, rather than a delight!
Nevertheless, in our relationships with companion animals, happily for us, and indeed for most of us, they remain an absolute joy.
